Possible Risks

We do not know if RTX will be helpful or harmful, and we do not know whether any effects will last a short time or be permanent.

Possible risks of the RTX when injected into the spinal fluid include temporary or permanent damage to nerves, the spinal cord, or brain. Impairment of function could last hours, days or weeks, or could be permanent. Symptoms of nerve, spinal cord, or brain damage from spinal injection of RTX could include:

The injection of RTX will be given through a tube (catheter) placed into the spinal canal. Placing the spinal catheter can cause brief pain or tingling in your legs, backache, and headache.

The injection of RTX will be done under general anesthesia. General anesthesia causes temporary drowsiness, and may cause nausea and vomiting during recovery.
